Jenn at Machu Picchu
We are located half way between Nanaimo and Victoria on Vancouver Island in Glenora, a little community in the Cowichan Valley ten minutes west of Duncan. The inspiration for our name, Pacific Sun Alpacas, comes from the Pacific Ocean and Sun comes from Cowichan, the Native word for Warmland. |
"Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines! Sail away from the safe harbor! Catch the trade winds in your sails! Explore! Dream!"

The Gentle Grazers
Sustainable Agriculture
Alpacas are uniquely positioned to become leaders as the most eco-friendly livestock species ever!

Alpacas have the ability to get every morsel of food value out of their feed which creates a much smaller carbon foot print because they eat lesser amount of hay and grain.
Their efficient digestive systems reduce pressure on pastures and their padded feet minimize damage to the land.
They keep their pastures cleaner because of their ability to share communal dung piles. Their manure can go right into gardens with no composting needed, with no burning and very little weeds grow from it.
Because alpacas are rarely sick we do not use a lot of medications, so even their manure is cleaner than a lot of regular livestock's manure.

THE ALPACA INDUSTRY |

An Industry for the next generation |
With careful stewardship of this wonderful resource there is no reason we can not enjoy it for as long the Peruvians have, for over 6000 years.
