Herd sires

At PSA we are working hard to bring good bloodlines to our breeding program. We are working towards breeding fine fibered colored Huacaya with little to no medullated fibers. Getting dark fine fiber with density and crimp is a hard task but we believe with careful breeding and planning we can achieve these goals. The males we have purchased are intended to improve our females in different areas

Each male has noted bloodlines behind them. All our males are easy to work with and get along well with each other. They are always insistent but gentle with their girl friends.

Some of the bloodlines behind our males are;
4Peruvian Accoyo's Juliaca, Westwool's Fredrico, Pperuvian Felix, Jolimont 2Peruvian Alpamayo, Coyo Destini, Cperuvian Zhivago, Cperuvian Accoyo Artic, Acero Marka's Rockamundo, Lionel, Ice Man, El Toro, Peruvian Bueno, Pperuvian El Mustachio, Peruvian Timo, Cortez, and Rockwell and many more.

Have a look at our up and coming stud prospects as well

PSA Lord Buckingham Brew

Buckie

Buckie
Born June 30, 2003
Sire Cperuvian Zhivago
Dam Melena Brew

We are very proud of our Buckie, as his first cria PSA Emma Peel just took reserve color champion at the Pacific Coast Alpaca Show 2007. This is an excellent start for his off- spring. We have eight cria's coming this season and we hope they all do was well as his first. The judges comments were that Emma's fleece was uniform and consistent throughout the blanket with good density, fineness and character.

Buckie is an unusual color and is turning gray as he ages. He was born a fawn with a few orange spots which, as he grays, gives him a light rosy color. We believe he is a "fading fawn", which is a rare colour type.

We are pleased with his fibre stats
2005: 23 micron, 21.8 cv, 5 sd & 6.7%>30 micron
2006: 23.4 micron, 20.5 cv, 4.8 sd & 7.6%>30 microns.

He has good density, crimp and uniformity. These traits along with his color makes him a good stud prospect. His grandsire Zhivago and Lionel have passed along their excellent conformation and an almost perfect head.

Junior Herdsire Potential

IAOC Akon

Akon

Born: 9/12/06
Sire: Cortez (T. Black)
Dam: IAOC Crystal Ice (white)

Akon is a very welcomed addition to our alpaca family. He has extreme density, uniformity with tight crimpy bundling in his pencil like locks.

Besides being a handsome male he comes from top bloodlines going back to HCLA Bolivian Ice Man and Acero Marka's Rockamundo on his dams side. His sire, a true black, is a top color producing stud at International Alpacas sure to bring some lovely color to our herd.

Akon settled his first females last summer at 17 months of age. He is a gentle but instant breeder. A joy to handle and as a good easy going personality.

Look for three lovely cria from him next summer 2009.

PSA Lord Elton

Elton

Born 3/16/2006
Sire FW Top Gun (gray)
Dam Penny Lane (Tr.Bla ck)

Elton is a chip off the block for sure. His blanket is evenly colored and is bright silver grey which is totally absent of any spots or any color blemishes. He has no spots except for one on the top of his head and one on each of his feet. He has fineness like his sire and a dense fleece with a high frequency low amplitude crimp. He has good coverage and lots of bone so he should mature into a robust male.

Elton settled his first female at just over two and not for want of trying we just didn't have a female open we wanted him to breed, so he had to wait. We have bred him to a white Lionel daughter, Melena. We'll just have to wait and see next June 2009.

85% of Top Gunn's cria have been female and all but one has been dark colored from brown, black, gray and rose grey. Many of Top Gunn's cria have been front and center in the show ring as well.

We sure hope that Elton can fill his fathers boots so far everything is looking bright for this little guy.

He is out of an incredible dam who came into the country with a 14 micron. His is by the a full accoyo male, Artic making Everest 1/2 accoyo and Peruvian.

We have high hopes for this little guy, as he has an elite fleece type and lovely conformation, look for some lovely cria in a few years.

Fibre Males

Excellent Fibre Males for sale
We have had a bumper crop of 2008 cria males and are offering excellent fibre male packages.

"Junior Potential Herdsire's" can be purchased for as low as $1000 and you do the registrations.

Fibre male packages three males for five hundred dollars. No papers.

What are fiber boys?

Only a very few males born are good enough to be kept for breeding. The males that do not fit into our breeding program for a number of reasons are sold at a reduced price as fiber producers only. Most of them sell for about the same as a dog. They do not come with papers and are not usually registered.

The other use for non-breeding males is as pet stock or in some cases as therapy animals. We sold a male as a therapy animal to be trained to work in old folk homes. They can travel in a Mini Van so are very easy to transport for school visits, community functions and what every you can think of. Not every alpaca will work well in a therapy situation. Alpacas that are friendly and like people are the ones you would seek out for this function. And yes we do have a couple that would fit do the job.

Some people just like the alpacas and would like a some for their hobby farm as something different, easy to look after, economical to feed and keep. Remember that alpacas are a herd animal and can not be kept by them selves. There are stories of alpacas actually dyeing because they were alone. So when you go to get them remember you must have at least two.
